No. 13 minutes is 13 minutes. If you want to keep one breast lactating,
then pump one. If you want to keep both lactating, pump both. If you lift
weights with the left arm alone, it does not make the right arm stronger.

Arly, as I recall, and I could be wrong -- the brain is getting very very
old -- the original study was done (on the 100 minutes) before double pumping
was common. So it was 100 total minutes -- 20 minutes, 5 times a day, which
was 10 minutes per side, 5 times a day for a total of 100 minutes. It wasn't
100 minutes pumping both sides at the same time.
So yes, in essence, pumping for 13 minutes double was the equivlent of 26
minutes single.
Arly is absolutely right about pumping both breasts. But the research you
are referring to was 10 minutes each side for a total of 20, pumping 5 times a
day was enough to keep the milk supply going. Not robust, mind you, but
going.
