I am somewhat baffled at how my post about patents, human milk banking, and
the US Department of Health has become a discussion about Martek and DHA. I
also don't understand why people would think it too late to do anything about
donating human milk and patenting?? There are alot of human milk components
that still can be patented. The barn door is not wide open yet. What would
happen if women around the world declared a moratorium on donating human milk for
research until the issue of patenting was publicly acknowledged and addressed?
I don't happen to believe that I am tilting at windmills. And while these
industries are well-funded, they aren't necessarily as savvy as they think nor
as good at PR as they state. Having lots of money doesn't necessarily mean
that one "wins" the competition. One need only look at the war in Iraq, to know
that all the money in the world, doesn't necessarily win a war. Nor does
mountains of propaganda/advertising turn lies into truth.
