Just a note before I leave for work, it's 5:30 am and it will be a long day.
I subscribe to MCN and generally feel its a very worthwhile professional
journal. It address maternal child with some good articles and provides good CEU
articles. Like everything else in life advertising is going to effect someone
or something. I see lots of infant safety systems and love to read the hype,
because ours is a total failure and we all hate it. I think if you keep the
baby in the room with the mom and do all the procedures there and have a
reliable ( that is the operative word) security guard system in place then the lojak
bands that slip off ankles are not necessary..I digress. They have
breastfeeding articles and I usually request more...There was one last year on Postpartum
Fatigue that was terrific because it stated that we over load the mom's in a
short time with soooo much information and we don't encourage them to have
less visitors and more naps and we don't teach them to nurse sidelying to help
them rest more and take the pain off the episiotomies ( though in our hospital
its the cs suture line) and it made a good case for how we should be looking at
Postpartum. I took it into work made copies and encouraged the CEU needy to
read and do the test for 2 CEUs.and pay the fee and for the not CEU needy I put
it in the break room and out at the desk so they could read it. I made a copy
for the bacculaurete students to ready while they stand around gawking
waiting for the instructor. Occasionally there are things I don't like but all in
all its a journal I recommend. Your needs may be different. Well got to let the
dog in and get dressed...Have a nice holy season to all of you. Peace.
