Hi Christine,
I would try a nipple shield again, perhaps the smallest size. Finger
feed baby about 1/2 oz milk, then switch to breast and see what happens.
When baby fusses or falls asleep, remove from breast, finger feed a
little more, place back to breast. Sounds like this mother is patient
and willing to work at it.
Tell us what happens.
