Some of my colleagues think I'm a bit of a bully and definately obsessed,
although it's getting better and I smile quietly to myself when I hear my
own phrases and expressions repeated by them as if they thought them up
themselves.
Just finished a week of night-duty, had a nice quick delivery (although not
as quick as the undiagnosed one in the surgery). Birth plan stated no
skin-to-skin but would 'try' to breastfeed. Mum adamant after the birth no
skin-to-skin and not keen to b/f at this stage. 'Well you've got to give him
something' I say, so reluctantly she puts him to the breast, 'Oh its easier
than I thought' she says. I know perfectly well that even though we are a
Baby Friendly Unit, others would have just got a bottle and that would have
been that. Its not exactly challenging, more like trying to make b/f the
obvious choice, the 'normal' choice. (sometimes feels like swimming upstream
in a river of treacle)
