It turns out that in fact, the mom who requested a letter from me for her
employer, because she said she had to be away from two month old baby for a few
weekends, is not in fact going on a business trip but to jail. She was
embarrassed to tell me this. She will be spending three consecutive weekends in jail
and is filled with fear because her baby refuses all bottles and will only
breastfeed. This mom has requested that I write a letter citing proof of the
detriments of separation for her and the baby, to her probation officer. I am a
little overwhelmed by the task and am about to leave town for three days as
well. Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks, Ann
