>>Later in the hospital thoughtless person offers mum
a bottle, 'Oh no,
I'm
breastfeeding ' says mum. And she is still. Well I
know it wasn't
exactly
informed choice but what the heck?<<
Amen to that! How wonderful she had the presence of
mind to stick with her choice, no matter when she
decided.
I've had contact with a couple cases where the women
didn't realize they were pregnant. With one case, It
was severe denial. The woman had been sexually
molested--quite violently. One woman had denied
pregnancy & delivered twice in a closet. (Same
partner--don't know why his denial was as great as
hers the second time around.)
Another woman was morbidly obese & had been told by a
couple of doctors that pregnancy was impossible. She
had PCOD; irregular menses with intensely painful
cramping as well as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She did
not have much weight gain with her pregnancy & was
able to continue wearing her "regular" clothing. She
wrote off the fluttering movements as IBS & labor
wasn't any more painful than delivery until right at
the end. She went to the physician while her husband
was active-duty military & had negative pregnancy
tests early on with her first daughter prior to her
husband's discharge from service. Once she had her
first child, she subsequently gave birth twice more,
but knew more what to expect. For whatever reason,
she never did have positive results to pregnancy tests
early on, but did deliver full-term infants each time.
