I have searched the archives and haven't seen this question discussed. I am
working with a mother who was diagnosed with a progesterone deficiency while
trying to get pregnant. This is her second baby, and she is suffering from
low milk supply which was also present with the first baby. I know that
there is a protocol for adoptive moms using progesterone and Reglan, and I
know that in the early postpartum progesterone would most likely inhibit
lactogenesis two. But if she still has a deficiency of progesterone now,
several weeks out, could progesterone actually help milk supply?
It seems there would be a risk of seeing the supply get very low, which
would be very bad for her. Mostly, I'm looking for an explanation for her.
Any thoughts?
