I hope Kathy Dettwyler will comment (so good to have you back on Lactnet,
Kathy!) on the increased fertility. It could be related to changes in diet.
Improvements in maternal nutritional status and maternal weight tend to
improve fertility. This is noted in the literature. It certainly also could
be attributed to decreased duration of exclusive bfg. This may be (in parts
of Africa) due to the AIDS epidemic.
