Great to see the letters people are writing to the networks, and hooray that a Lactnetter will be on the Today show this week.
Marsha's letter contained one slight arithmetical error.
If the risk of dying in the first year of life is 20% higher in US babies who were never breastfed, that is not 20 times higher. It is 1.2 times higher.
I'd like to think that if the figures were that dramatic we wouldn't need to beat our heads against so many walls.

where our print media today ran an article in which our colleague Elisabeth Tufte at the National Breastfeeding Center expresses concern that only 37% of one-year-olds are getting any breastmilk, and says they will start using the WHO guidelines (two years and beyond) as a minimum recommendation - at present the official recommendation is one year and beyond...
