At a feeding team meeting today, this question was asked........
In the NICU, the 32-36 weeker premi has begun breastfeeding, (usually with a nipple shield).
The baby is near ready for discharge, mom's not available to breastfeed at night and some other
times. It is nearing the discharge date. ......What is the best way to be feeding these babies? If it
is bottle, than which nipple and why?

To date, we have tried Avent, but found that while it is good for full term infants, it is not for
premi's, and the variable flow ones pour out milk too fast for the baby to handle.

What are others doing? What is working for you?
