Regarding NRP and LCs....
Think about it .....even if you never go to a delivery you are at the bedside
and you need to know about cyanosis and CPR...you may the person with a baby
who is just in Mom's arms and all of a sudden it turns blue and stops
breathing...you know who and how to initiate the process and minutes aren't lost....I
work Mom Baby and have done LDRP, but one of my dear friends was discharging a
dressed baby in Mom's arms and it went limp, blue and stopped breathing
....she initiated the process...saved the child's life. Its not about the
drugs....remember you can bag a baby until the team arrives....you can initiate the
process and parents can be supported by you after the team arrives...Its not
just deliveries....and legally the hospital says all its team members are NRP
certified..Yes its a PIA but the consequences are much more...heck, I respect the
team even more...
Where would you spend the money???
Leanne Jewell, RN, C, LCCE, FACCE certified in NRP and ACLS (trust me I
NEVER want to use that one either, but the little old lady in the cafeteria was
really happy when we called her code)
