I have been active with the Parent-L maillist for a couple months now. The
population is mostly moms who are or have nursed for mostly more than a year
- a support forum for extended nursing. As the list has grown, it has also
developed into a Q & A for those moms involved.
This is a recent post from list maintainer, former LLL leader, Law student,
Lois Patterson.

The reason I started the list was because I wanted a place
where people could feel secure talking about their
breastfeeding experiences and asking questions. The current charter of
the list, if it has one, is as I've described below. My original
description was slanted a bit more towards moms of "older" babies and
toddlers, but I've decided that it is really important to
provide support for parents of "younger" babies and pregnant
parents as well. I hope everyone feels welcome to post
their questions and experiences, whether you are a prospective parent, a
new parent, or an experienced parent. There is no "party line"
about weaning, sleeping arrangements, or any other subject, so
feel free to post your views. If anyone has any suggestions
to amend the charter, just tell me. I have yet to see an
off-topic post in any event. The list-subscribers have
provided so many interesting posts. I'm really pleased
to hear from all of you, and I've had a great time maintaining the list.
Charter:
The Extended Breastfeeding List is a forum for discussing issues related to
breastfeeding and parenting the nursing baby or child. The topics for
discussion vary widely, and include subjects related to life with a
nursing toddler or baby, nursing during pregnancy, tandem nursing, societal
attitudes towards breastfeeding, weaning, and any other related topics.

Hope this answers the questions about the group.
