Nestle's slogan about a good start in life is a change from their former
one, still in use here last I noticed: Nestle, for the BEST start in life.
I always felt it was even more misleading for them to use 'best' since it is
blatantly wrong to assert that Nestle food is better than, say, breastmilk
at the start of life.
But they are probably more savvy than us idealists. They probably know that
'good' is the right word to use to get the best market share, and 'best'
puts them in a class for elitists.
Their website used to have a section called 'very best baby' or something.
And surely I am not the only one who remembers the TV adverts with the
singing dog - a dachs, I think, and the jingle 'N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestles makes
the VERY best... choooooc-late!' It's been so long since I ate Nestle
chocolate that I can barely remember what it tasted like; I don't remember
it being any better than any other kind, either.
