Upbringing has a lot to do with housekeeping priorities. Mediteranean
cultures are generally fastidious, and it can be very hard for an
Italian, Greek or Maltese mom to sit and breastfeed when there is dust
on her furniture. I still can't sit down if I can see dust anywhere,
have to get up and clean it! It was difficult for me to sit still long
enough to breastfeed my inefficient feeder firstborn (hypotonic, tongue
tied, and with sensory-neuromotor issues). I managed to keep a
reasonable house and breastfeed, but it was a source of stress. That
said, I do agree with you that the cleaner the house, the more difficult
the mother finds it to sit and breastfeed.
