I too have been using the riding a bike bicycle analogy for bf, for along
time. I have observed that taking a baby off and latching her on repeatedly
frustrates baby and mom, and quickly l;ead to exhaustion and discouragement.
So I have been working with moms on adjusting the position of their baby at
the breast to fix the latch (an nipple pain and damage due to not
deep-enough latching) rather than detaching and relatching repeatedly.

Here's the bicycle part: I talk about the way some people (like my father)
can put one foot on the pedal and swing the other leg over and speed off.
Other people (like me) climb on laboriously, line up the pedals and push off
slowly.

Trying to get a baby to latch on deeply on the first try might be like
trying to get her to leap onto the bicycle. Some babies can achieve it,
other need to climb up the nipple slowly (causing temporary "latching-on"
pain) and then have their position adjusted and corrected (as I adjust and
correct the position of my bum on the bicycle seat) so mom and baby can both
be comfortable and the milk can be transferred efficiently.

The baby is learning to ride a bicycle too!
