Susan,
You previously posted..
I've posted on this before, but someday I want to do a study on tube
placement and use of the vent tube. My supervisors - the queens of the
SNS - from whom I learned tons about its use - taped the tube differently
than the instructions. I think it is beneficial for whatever device might
be taped to the breast.
1) The tube is taped parallel to where the baby's tongue lands on the
breast so it is under the tongue while sucking. I think that this does two
things:
a) makes it easier for the mother to latch than trying to get the tube into
the corner of the mouth
b) permits the baby more control of the flow of milk - more like the
natural flow from the breast if the supply is good or the baby's suck were
better

I'm having trouble picturing the "under the tongue" placement.
Wouldn't "Parallel to the baby's tongue" put it in the corner of the mouth?
Is it just me?
thanks,
