Dear Libby,
Have your mother talk to her OB for a prescription of birth control pills.
She would only need to be on them until her milk production starts to slow
down.  If her OB is concerned with prescribing regular birth control remind the
mother to tell them that the reason breastfeeding women should not take them is
because it can diminish the milk supply.  This would be good for this mom.
