In line Barbara's comments preceding the final sentence I'd also like to
like to say "I want my daughters to be able to have fulfilling births"
except that is :unlike what happened to me and if things go wrong for
them then I hope some one supports their breastfeeding intention and
facilitates them being able to keep their baby with them and as close to
themselves as they want, whenever they want, for as long as they want. And
if things go wrong in that area I hope someone at least helps them reunite
with their baby and learn to breastfeed using skin-to-skin contact.
I had a mother of twins lament to me this week how if only she knew about
skin-to-skin contact perhaps things could have been different for her.
"I'm angry" she said that the staff didn't support me, tell, me or let me
to touch my babies and let them be close to me when I went into the
nursery.
