In addition to "You can call me silly (dumb, etc. -- fill in the blank after
I just sent that blank post accidentally), just don't call me late for
dinner," I'm enjoying quotes from The World According to Mr. Rogers, such as:
"I believe that infants and babies whose mothers give them loving comfort
whenever and however they can are truly the fortunate ones. I think they're more
likely to find life's times of trouble manageable, and I think they may also
turn out to be the adults most able to pass loving concern along to the
generations that follow after them." p. 84
"Children who have learned to be comfortably dependent can become not only
comfortably independent, but can also become comfortable with having people
depend on them. They can lean, or stand and be leaned upon, because they know what
a good feeling it can be to feel needed." p. 90
"In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen
with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are just as
important as our answers." p.79
"I must be an emotional archaeologist because I keep looking for the roots of
things, particularly the roots of behavior and why I feel certain ways about
certain things." p. 43
"What makes the difference between wishing and realizing our wishes? Lots of
things, and it may take months or years for a wish to come true, but it's far
more likely to happen when you care so much about a wish that you'll do all
you can to make it happen." p. 108
"You rarely have time for everything you want in this life, so you need to
make choices. And hopefully your choices can come from a deep sense of who you
are." p. 32
"Some days doing 'the best we can' may still fall short of what we would like
to be able to do, but life isn't perfect -- on any front -- and doing what
we can with what we have is the most we should expect of ourselves or anyone
else." p. 14
Sorry to go on...but there are so many thoughtful nuggets in this little
nugget of a book.
