Labor and birth puts a mother in a very vulnerable state. Therefore
when she is in danger , she needs to be able to inhibit the labor until
she is safe.
Breastfeeding can be stopped at a moment's notice if there is an
emergency. So the body doesn't necessarily need a "turn off" mechanism
for it.
The nipple rolling story was interesting, but the very fact that nipple
rolling elicited a good MER belies the "stress was inhibiting it"
theory, IMHO. I suspect the mom was not conditioned to let down to the
pump, and her discomfort with the lack of privacy was coincidental.
