I work for the WIC Program and we recently had a Lactina posted on ebay
by one of our grandmothers (she did know who owned it). If it weren't
for an astute buyer, it would have likely been sold. The potential
buyer emailed the seller with a list of questions on how old the pump
was, how it had been used, and the serial number. She then called
Medela with the serial number and Medela said their records indicated
that it was owned by the State of Wisconsin and then she called me. We
were then able to follow-up and get the pump back. This potential buyer
told me this was the fourth Lactina she had bid on and three were pumps
that were "stolen".
