On the subject of "I don't have the credentials, so media won't pay
attention to me":

As has been so well pointed out, sometimes it's the "man on the
street" that is the desired subject. Another point is that for any
subject and any media source, there seems to be a point where the
next letter on the subject is the one that makes the topic hit
"critical mass". It's the point where an editor says, "OK, we keep
hearing about this, maybe we should look into it." In one situation
it may only require 10 letters while in another it may need 1000 to
get the attention of the decision makers. Who know if your letter
may be the one that finally makes someone sit up, take notice and
then contact the "experts". Even if it's not the one that becomes
the "straw that breaks the camel's back", by being one of the
earlier "straws" it contributes to the overall process.
So, each letter does count even if you never hear from the recipient
yourself.

Winnie
