Hoefer and Hardy published a landmark article in the Journal of the American
Medical Association almost 100 years ago: Hoefer C. and M.C. Hardy. Later
development of breastfed and artificially fed infants.  J Am. Med. Assoc 92:
615, 1929. They noted that no artificially fed children were in the highest
IQ group, and that breastfed children walked an average of two months
earlier.

Yes, I realize that artificial (manufactured foods) for babies are different
(less risky) now than they were then. So are cars and airplanes. Human milk
is still human milk - perfect then, perfect now. 

Note also Hoefer & Hardy's terminology: "breastfed and ARTIFICIALLY FED."
(I'm not shouting, just emphasizing).
