Strictly anecdotally and from personal experience, I have found that some
substances a mother ingests pass through and cause BF BMs to stain diapers,
clothing, etc. My former prenatal vitamin seemed to be the culprit...a
lovely yellowish-orange stain would remain behind when the diapers were
clean. I changed vitamins without changing my diet and the stains
disappeared. Other mothers report similar staining...it makes sense to me
since breastmilk sometimes takes on hues other than whitish-blue from
foods/substances the mothers ingest. BTW, I've learned that the diaper
liners do *not* protect from staining if the BMs leak through at all, so,
once again, I wouldn't waste time and money on them for babies who are
consuming breastmilk only. Just my $0.02.
