But what I *frequently* see is that, after the first such visit, baby nurses
*beautifully* ONCE, and then goes back to what he was doing before.  That ONE
great nursing session really gets mom all excited, and then it really hits her
hard when the baby doesn't *keep* doing well.  This has happened so often,
that I now routinely warn moms that this is likely to happen, and that they
shouldn't let it get them discouraged because it happens so often.  I tell them
that the improvement doesn't seem to "stick" until the baby has been seen 2-3
times, and even then additional visits are often needed to get the baby to be
able to nurse perfectly.  The moms can usually handle this if they are warned
ahead of time that it is likely to happen this way.
I agree with Dee's statement....I tell moms when I refer them for CST that it
usually requires 2-3 treatments for baby to handle breastfeeding smoothly.
