This is a common and unchangeable regulation for female prisoners, but
should not apply to female employees. Their personal possessions are not
kept in an area where prisoners have access. I think it appropriate that
she ask to see the regulation in writing and have Admin explain how,
exactly, represents a security problem for the institution. She would
pumping on her own breaks. And just like the men, women can interrupt
personal activities for a prison emergency. I think they are invoking the
security issue as a knee-jerk reaction to something new.

I'll bet there is nothing in writing in the employee handbook related to
pumping. The handbook on prison security is another thing. The two should
not be mixed up.

I'll also bet they are thinking of all the regulations on how guards must
protect themselves from "bodily fluids". You may need the CDC statement
that no precautions are needed for breast milk.
