Last week, I saw a 6 week-old baby who cannot eat without very serious
breathinbg difficulties.
Dear Friends:
While this might be allergies, it also might indicate some central
nervous system or other anatomical system disorder. Sucking, swallowing and
breathing are very difficult to coordinate; if this baby can't eat without breathing
easily, this baby needs to be evaluated by some practitioner (not the
pediatrician in this particular case who has dismissed it as insignificant!) who will
take it seriously!
Some suggestions: an infant feeding specialist or another pediatrician.
