The recent post on lactation suppression for moms who lose an infant was
timely for me.  I am caring for a woman who's unborn baby has a known
congenital defect and the baby is likely to die shortly after birth.  At
this point, the parents are struggling with planning the birth as they are
going to try everything to give this little one a chance, but know that
chances are small.  She will be having a planned cesarean, with a surgical
team waiting for the baby.  The whole situation has been very hard on these
parents, and I have been trying hard to both encourage and support them in
planning the best course to give this little baby a chance at life, while
trying to help prepare them for her death if that is what happens.
Lactation management is something else I need to address with them and this
article came just on time to remind me.
