This is not the best option.
Through our adult lives, we have all, at one time or another, been
embarrassed by so-called leaders of a political party ("I'm embarrassed to be a
Democrat/Republican") or other organization. The best option is to work from within.
The so-called leadership of the AAP has abrogated their responsibility to be
the voice for the best interests of babies and children. The rest of us now
have to work harder to remove these people from positions of power and
influence before they do any more harm. We must call for the immediate resignations
of the doctors and bureaucrats who ignored optimal health and safety in the
interests of expediency and organizational greed.
Dr. Gartner is the obvious choice (and the NYT's) as our standard bearer, but
others have to write letters to local papers and call local TV station to get
a few minutes focused on this scandal.
