Hi, Sally

I show this video in my newborn care classes. After the video, I
play a tape of a newborn baby crying and have the parents try out the
solutions they saw in the video to help calm their "babies" (dolls,
since the parents are taking this class before the real babies
arrive). Some of the parents really get into it and others look at
me like I'm nuts for suggesting that they actually pretend said dolls
are babies. In every single class, however, several people indicate
that this was the best part of the class.

I wish there was a shorter version of the video--the whole thing is
about 40 minutes long and I only show about 25 minutes of it because
I would have to cut other material from the already jam-packed class.
I like it, though, because it really shows the parents doing the
hands on stuff and the families in my class can see different
parenting styles and a range of normal newborns.
