Norma, these poor mothers are so confused!  I am the only one suggesting
that it's easier to respond to early feeding cues, feed a calm baby - -
that perhaps a wet diaper causes mother more distress than the baby etc.
Everyone else is basically telling them that they are bad mothers if their
babies are not clean and dry before feeding.

I am thinking of looking up the references that Teresa supplied and others
and putting together a simple summary for mothers (and nurses).  Niles
Bergman talks about stress levels being the highest ever in life at birth -
maybe that's a place to start?
