I second this. Our neonatologists, not to mention risk management,
would have freaked at the mere suggestion.

Thanks for your note. I figured that this was not standard practice any
more, although someone mentioned that it was practiced 30-40 years ago
in the US.
When my son was in a NICU in Israel 13 years ago, there was another
baby, bottle fed, who had blood in her stools. The doc ordered breast
milk. Much as he would rather have been able to order something "real"
from the pharmacy, he knew this was the best thing for the baby. I was
the only mother there with extra milk, so they cultured my milk and
used it for this baby. As far as I  know it was not pasteurized.
