Years ago, my daughters had babies within 4 mo of each other, unmedicated,
pretty much as natural as possible, with midwife attendance in hosp. No
separation etc, went home early, etc. The first baby nursed 3 times in
first 24 hours and left grandmom a wreck, the 2nd one basically nursed for
the first 24 hours :-) Both moms were reasonably engorged (3rd baby for one
and 4th for other) and both babies did great (of course).
It was just such a striking difference in behavior. Now that they are 11 yo
I can also say they have strikingly different personalities. So I'm not
sure that everything we see or think we see is "normal" or hospital
influenced (from my case of 2 :-) Pat in SNJ
