In response to the mom with symptoms of Menirre's disease, there is a
condition called basilar migraines that is very similar. I have basilar migraines,
had the full workup for menirres as well. I don't have headaches as a main
symptom, it is the vertigo and nausea that present most often. May be a
consideration, calcium channel blockers are one of the treatments, along with antivert
when needed.
About the mom who died from the PE, how devastating. Another reason may
have been an undiagnosed clotting disorder such as factor V Leiden, lupus
anticoagulant antibodies, MUFA as well as others. Most times, the person doesn't even
know they have it until they throw a PE. I am sorry for your loss, I know it
must be devastating for you and the family.
