Dear fellow lactnetters, today a mother came in to see me that I had followed in the hospital and she gave me permission to seek your help. This mother has nursed very well right from the start even though she had a C/S. Now she started giving EBM in a bottle after pumping instead of nursing. The baby is having Colic according to the Ped. and is having her use a pre-digested formula which may be helping a little but still lots of wakeful bouts of crying. Mother came into office today and nursed great. Baby was happy and not showing any discomfort at this time. I suggested mom keep a diary of feeds and what she is eating because I feel she really isn't having any trouble but offering formula may make a problem, I don't know what else to tell her except colic goes away with or with intervention most of the time in a few months. She agrees that it may resolve on it's own but needs sleep. What do any of you suggest.
