Dr. Newman's book has a good chapter on jaundice and addresses breastmilk
jaundice and that bf doesn't have to stop. The parents could state that they
are not comfortable w/ stopping the bf and using formula. They could state
that they would like to know what all of their options are (for example,
continued monitoring, bili lights at home, stopping bf for only 24 hrs?).
Make sure that all illness is ruled out. The parents could ask for a second
opinion and then decide on a treatment, if any.
