My daughter gets American Girl Magazine, which is, all in all, a pretty
good magazine.
I was just reading the latest copy, Jan/Feb, 2004. On page 12-13, there
is a POP QUIZ "Kick off the year with 100 questions all about things
girls love!" Number 20 is "At last count, what was the most popular
name for baby girls in the United States. The four choices are imbedded
over, you guessed it, a baby bottle filled with milk. (a. Jenny, b.
Emily, c. Hannah, D. Emma (for those who need to know the choices.) I'm
going to encourge my daughter to write a letter to the editor
complaining about this graphic, suggesting that another graphic could be
used, and, by the way, could you publish a story about the REAL reason
us pre-teen girls will develop breasts, ie, to feed babies, and that
bottles are not necessary! I think I'll write my own letter, as well!
