Dear Nancy:
I think my comeback to this colleague would have been
"No, if this baby had been fed" as it sounds like lack
of feeding contributed to this baby's bili of 40. If
the baby had been breastfeeding effectively it's
doubtful the bilirubin would have reached that level.
Unfortunately this infant needed intervention sooner
than 6 days of age.
