Kate laments: "but here I am, uncredentialed except for a couple BS's in
Biochemistry and Biology. I can write the letters but I fear I may appear
to be just one of those
'breastfeeding advocates who lack objectivity' if I [write letters to the
local news stations, newspapers and journals].
Phooey.
You are every bit as articulate and passionate about the BF Ad campaign
debacle as those who do have lots of initials after their names. The
objective in a concerted letter-writing campaign is to keep an issue in the
forefront. ALL of us can do that.
Maybe some reporter has been clamoring to do an in-depth piece, but hasn't
been able to convince the higher-ups that this is an issue worth spending
time on. Yours may be the letter which substantiates to the editors that
there*is* public interest in this issue. Perhaps the reporter seeks a
"regular person" to interview as part of a fully-researched article. Your
letter might prompt a call for an interview.
I say: put pen to paper, and worry only about typos and grammatical errors.
