Pam asks:
"Isn't a maternity shop asking for a person's name, adress, due
date,
etc. when purchasing a gift certificate a violation of HIPPA? "
It may not be as the maternity shop isn't part of the health care
system, so that isn't considered "health information". MD offices,
clinics, pharmacies, DME providers, etc. are all part of the system,
so are subject to HIPPA, but non-medical businesses seem to be free
to share your info with whomever they choose unless you actively
tell them not to. I'm not saying this is right, but just that HIPPA
isn't the answer for what maternity shops etc. share with AIMs.
