Aloha,

When my first was born in a free-standing birthing center in
California--almost 13 years ago (where has the time gone), appointments were made for me on
day three for my doctor and my daughter's doctor. Then again at 2 weeks for my
daughter.

My next three children were homebirths and the doctors respected me as an
experienced mom and knew that I would come in before two weeks if there was a
problem.

I am surprised that many doctors now don't see baby until 2 weeks for the
first time.

Some good news for military. Pregnant women will no longer be held to have
to use military facilities and the military facilties are now going to update
and be consistent throughout the various bases with their care--long overdo!
The idea is to now compete with the civilian hospitals for patients since
they can now go where they want. Not sure when this is effective.

Aloha,
Gloria Thai
