several years ago at a kids baseball game I noticed a new mom holding a very
plump baby, I made some conversation with the mom who I knew casually from
previous years of baseball games and found an opportunity to ask her about her
baby - how old and what weight was; 8 weeks, 16 lbs, ...mom was a multip and
voiced no concern, soooo, I asked what was she feeding the baby; absolutely
exclusively breastmilk, ...I made some comments of support and asked if I could
take a picture of her and her baby - I was in my BF slide taking phase so had
slide film in my camera.
I see the mom and young boy very occasionally around the neighborhood, he is
perfectly proportioned, not at all overweight, and very bright of course.
As an example of a norm, I use that story frequently in BF moms group when a
mom comes with a concern that her exclusively BF baby has been deemed
overweight by a HCP.
