A mother-to-be (baby being carried by a surrogate) posed the following
questions: Her cousin, the mother of an infant 3000 miles away, is willing
to continue expressing breast milk after she weans her own infant and will
ship the milk to my patient. Analogizing from the vaccines that are
shipped to my office, I'd advise styrofoam containers and dry ice. How
long could the milk be saved frozen? What containers are best? Is there a
preferred shipping method other the one I described?
