In response to your mom with ? monthly mastitis:  I have this happen EVERY
month a week or so before my period.  Very painful to touch, lumpy, knots.
Always in the same area, outer area of each breast, esp. right breast.  It never
occured to me about mastitis.  Just think it is related to hormones.  Would not
even consider treatment.  Don't know if this is the same thing your mother is
going through, but I ignore mine as much as possible.
