Trish,
I am very intrigued by your case. On the one hand, you mention that
mom's breasts grew and were very tender during the pregnancy, which
would seem to imply that prolactin was working well; on the other hand,
the idea that your client's prolactin is bound to something that might
prevent normal receptor binding implies that lactation failure could be
due to inability of prolactin to bind to its receptors. The prolactin
antibody question is something I have not heard about, another possible
layer. One question I do have: is this woman obese or of normal stature?
I'm wondering if she has insulin resistance that could be affecting
things rather than the prolactin.
