Given that moms can produce milk while pregnant (precursor to tandem
nursing) it would make sense that a mom with retained placental fragment
would still be able to produce some milk.  I would venture the amount
produced would depend on a whole variety of factors, one of which is
individual variation.

A purely anecdotal, unscientific N of 1 on this issue - my mother had
significant retained placenta yet nursed my sister exclusively for 6 weeks,
my sister was gaining great (per calculations we did based on entries in her
baby book) and perfectly healthy yet my mother was very ill.  At 6 weeks my
mother was readmitted for a D&C and her breasts were bound, she was told she
had to stop nursing because she was in the hospital.  Who knows how fabulous
her supply would have been if given the chance.
