When I had my babies, I also brought along my own pajamas. But for the
first day, I used the gown just because I didn't want to get my own
stuff stained.
With my last, I wore the gowns the whole stay (2 days), because my son
was an unplanned homebirth and we went to the hospital in an ambulance
wearing only my t-shirt and blankets! I had my husband bring clothes
and shoes later, but we forgot a coat and I had to wrap myself in the
baby sling for the ride home.
