Mary Kay mentions the practice of syringe feeding in her new work
situation. This is very common here - was introduced some time ago so as to
prevent nipple confusion (by folk with obviously little understanding of
infant suckling.) Sometimes I think staff think its the same as cup
feeding. It's very difficult to change this pervasive method of feeding -
and of course the fluid in the syringe is formula - even if the mother has
loads of colostrum. Lots of work to be done .....
