Subject: Help?
To Lactnet:
I have read with great interest your questions and concerns regarding
ethical questions for the IBLCE. I would encourage you to write your
questions and concerns directly to the organization. Maybe you have
noticed on the iblce.org website that we now have an ethics section. We
hope to be able to address some of your concerns on the website over the
next few months.
The IBLCE is greatly interested in your questions and in working to find
help with interpretations of the Code of Ethics and to use our
international strength to find useful answers for all IBCLCs. These
questions impact all of us. I too am an IBCLC and also use the Code of
Ethics as my guideline for ethical practice, along with the ILCA
Standards of Practice. Both are very important for IBCLCs. It is very
exciting to me to see the interest generated by the Code of Ethics.
There have been some excellent questions raised here on Lactnet. By
raising these questions and seeking appropriate answers we can only
strengthen our profession.
Ann Calandro, RNC, IBCLC
Chair, Ethics and Discipline Committee/ IBLCE
